We've all been there before. We've either said this ourselves or have had a client ask you this the moment they stepped in front of your camera.
Um, what do I do with my hands? 🙆♀️
In order to avoid this inevitable awkwardness, it's important to set your client up for success by working with them to create a shot list, props list and pose ideas prior to your session!
INSERT PHOTO SHOOT DETAIL DEVELOPMENT
After creating a mood board and honing in their vibes, I send my clients a how to prepare guide which includes tips to keep in mind when selecting their perfect outfit, grooming and pre photo shoot prep suggestions as well as prompts and cues to help them plan out potential props, outfits, and shot list ideas.
By asking my clients to visualize and write out their answers to these cues it quickly helps them create potential moments they would like to recreate and share with their audience.
QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU PREPARE FOR YOUR PERSONAL BRANDING SESSION.
Who is your ideal client or who are we creating photography for?
What specific photos do you know you need? List them out.
What do your clients like to see that you do?
What items, tools or equipment do you use regularly?
Do you sell products?
What service do you offer?
After Kimberly with Skinapeel Beauty decided on all her scene locations we created a spreadsheet with potential shot ideas paired with photo inspiration and a list of props and product she sells to have on hand and ready to go!
PLANNING & PREPPING IS A CRUCIAL STEP
When taking the proper time to plan and prep upfront, personal branding clients are prepared to execute their normal actions and activities in front of the camera naturally.
Not to mention how much more content we are able to capture for their image library then if they were troubleshooting ideas during the shoot itself.
